What works today
A shortcut starts recording anywhere on the machine. Speech recognition runs locally — your audio never leaves your computer — and only the recognised text is sent to be turned into LaTeX. The result is pasted at your cursor, in whatever program is in front.
What the extension will add
macOS and Linux do not exist yet. Most of the app is portable Python, but three pieces call Windows directly — the single-instance lock, the beeps, and the way the live-dictation capsule avoids stealing focus. Each degrades cleanly elsewhere and each needs its own equivalent. It is work, not a redesign.
Getting there
- 1Create an account and take the trial.
- 2Download the app and run it. Windows warns about an unrecognised publisher — the download page explains why.
- 3Approve the code it shows you. It connects itself, downloads the speech model once, and waits for Ctrl+Alt+D.
