What works today

Overleaf runs in a browser, and the app pastes into browsers exactly as into anything else. The dictation lands at your cursor in the editor, in both the code and visual modes, and a single Ctrl+Z removes it. Whatever you had copied is replaced, as everywhere else.

What the extension will add

A browser extension comes with Premium: you download the .zip from your account, unzip it and load it into Chrome by hand — it is not in the Chrome Web Store yet, so it does not update itself. It puts a button inside Overleaf itself, and inserts without touching your clipboard. That insertion has been measured against a real CodeMirror editor and tried in a real Overleaf project, in both the code and visual modes. It transcribes nothing: it asks the desktop app to listen, so the app remains required — and your voice still never leaves your machine.

Getting there

1. 1Install the desktop app.
2. 2Open your project in Overleaf and click where you write.
3. 3Press Ctrl+Alt+D, say the formula, press again. Recompile.
